Washington DC "Shadow Senators", Sen. Paul Strauss & Sen. Michael Brown, have endorsed Barack Obama. The endorsement was noted on page 9 of the print version of today's Washington Post, District local news section (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con tent/article/2008/02/27/AR2008022701430_ 2.html). The endorsement is noted at the very end of the story. The shadow Senators are unpaid & elected by Washington "Taxation Without Representation" DC voters to lobby for voting rights & DC statehood. "Shadow Senators" can't vote in the US Senate nor are they recognized by that body.
Both Strauss & Brown are Super Delegates. This isn't a surprise given Obama's 75% to 24% victory in Washington, DC on Feb. 12 but the two shadow Senators take thier vote very seriously.
Due to Republican hardball politics and Republicans who misread the US Constitution, Washington, DC can't vote in Congress. DC voters do have, however, 3 electoral votes and we have voting delegates to the Democratic Convention. Other DC officials who support Obama are Mayor Adrian Fenty and Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton and, of course, the voters. Obama carried every one of DC's 144 precincts on Feb. 12.
